We’re offering more social dance contests than ever at this year’s Portland Dance Festival. You may enter any of these contests in advance by printing the entry form from the Registration page of this website. Click Here to jump to the social contest entry form. Or, if you prefer, you may register on-site after you arrive at PDF. Please be mindful of contest cut-off times which are generally one hour prior to the contest start time. All swing and social contests will be de-gendered this year unless specifically noted below.

Swing and Social Contest Rules and Entry Requirements |
Swing Contests
All American West Coast Swing
This just-for-fun contest will serve as our first non-workshop activity of the weekend. We’re offering this contest instead of “Pro-Am Jack & Jill” on Friday night. Dancers of all skill levels will enter and be placed into a pool of leaders or followers (de-gendered with no age or skill levels). It’s truly a “luck of the draw” situation…you could dance with a pro, or maybe somebody else you’ve always wanted to dance with. The entry fee for this contest is being subsidized by the DHC Company, so instead of the $15 fee we were going to charge, the entry fee will be only $5.
WSDC Sanctioned Swing Jack and Jill
PDF is a World Swing Dance Council (WSDC) member event which means any points earned count toward graduation within the WSDC. We’re offering Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, All Star and Masters divisions. You don’t need to join the WSDC to participate if you’ve not done a Jack & Jill before. Click Here to visit the WSDC website to learn more.
Strictly Swing
We’re offering Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, All Star and Masters divisions. Please check the guidelines in the above rules document prior to registering.
Two Step Contests
All American Two Step
This just-for-fun contest will serve as our first non-workshop activity of the weekend. We’re offering this contest instead of “Pro-Am Jack & Jill” on Friday night. Dancers of all skill levels will enter and be placed into a pool of leaders or followers (de-gendered with no age or skill levels). It’s truly a “luck of the draw” situation…you could dance with a pro, or maybe somebody else you’ve always wanted to dance with. Just Dance Two Step
